Opened in June, the City of Somerville partnered with CultureHouse to transform the vacant lot in Gilman Square (350 Medford St.) into a pop-up park. The space has a full schedule consisting of local food vendors, a beer garden, vintage market, lawn games, and more.
No summer bucket list is complete without visiting Gilman Park. Don’t forget to check it out before summer programming ends on September 8.

The latest installment of Somerville’s SomerStreets festival series took place on Sunday, August 4, with an afternoon packed with excitement and music. The festivities took place on Highland Avenue from Central Street to Lowell Street. Attendees enjoyed live music and entertainment at two stages, interactive games, shop local craft vendors, and much more.

City of Somerville Mayor, Katjana Ballantyne, and the Somerville Police Department would like to welcome three new police officers. Officer Brian Clancy, Officer Matthew Lorizio, and Officer Igor Bitencourt recently graduated from the Police Academy and were sworn in on Tuesday, July 30. Chief Charles Femino, Lt. Carmine Vivolo, Lt. Michael Perrone, and Sgt. Tim Van Nostrand attended the graduation. Best of luck for a safe and successful career!
