Especially in Somerville, many will recognize David Campbell’s extraordinary paintings of local scenes. Campbell’s hyper-realistic scenes of our post-industrial landscape are easy to recognize. His subjects, often painted from rooftops, include defunct factories, dingy streets, wire-crossed horizons, moody skies. Have you looked at Campbell’s painting of Everett Avenue, which hangs in Somerville City Hall – doesn’t it take your breath away?

Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Somerville Chief of Police Charles Femino have announced that Jose Mendez, 60, of Somerville has been charged with two counts of indecent assault and battery on a person over 14, indecent exposure and operating as an unlicensed chiropractor in connection with allegedly assaulting two women on separate occasions while providing services under the guise of being a chiropractor.

Green Line service will bypass Magoun Square station on the Medford/Tufts Branch all day from start to end of service on May 4.

The MBTA today announced service changes in May on the Red, Green, Orange, Kingston, Greenbush, Middleborough/Lakeville, Fairmount, Newburyport/Rockport, and Haverhill lines. The MBTA will continue working to maintain its infrastructure and improve reliability across the system.

Somerville Media Center to open a 5,000 square foot, state-of-the-art media center

Rafi Properties, Owner and Operator of Somernova, the 7.4 acre innovation campus and community dedicated to helping people and companies iterate and grow faster, announced today that the Somerville Media Center (SMC) will expand their footprint at the campus, and open a new, state-of-the-art media center designed to spark creativity and amplify community engagement. Dover St. fire in Somerville under investigation

Last Saturday night at approximately 10pm the Somerville FAO received a 911 call reporting a fire near a construction site on Dover Street. District Chief Matt Wall was first to arrive on scene and found heavy fire showing from the rear of a large 3 story occupied dwelling. A Working Fire was quickly ordered followed by a 2nd and 3rd alarm bringing all Somerville companies to the scene along with mutual aid from Cambridge, Boston, Medford and Arlington.
