How much do we love summer? It’s certain that we all feel varying degrees of enthusiasm for the season. Some may live to revel in the warm sunshine, while others might prefer a cooler climate, even to the extent of pining for snowy picture-postcard scenes straight out of Currier and Ives. One thing’s for sure, we could sure do without as much snow as we sometimes get at the worst of times.

In The Little Queen, Geddes tells the story of a little girl whose parents pass on, leaving her to live on as the little queen. It is a role the little queen initially wants to rid herself of, willing to trade places with anyone to become something else.

Vaughan, Harold E. “Harry” Jr. –Of Revere, Aug. 27th. Beloved husband of the late Kathleen (Bruning). Father of Maureen “Moe” and her husband Rick Schober of Arlington, Harold E. “Harry” Vaughan III and his Fiancé Charlene Paolillo of Somerville, and Eric and his wife Marisa Vaughan of Saugus. Son of the late Helen and Harold E. Vaughan Sr. Grandfather of Saffron, Ameriah, Noelani, and Keziah Schober, Ava, Harold IV, Bryce, Adriana, and Carina Vaughan. Harry is also survived by his Aunt Barbara Glazebrook and many loving family and friends. A Funeral Mass will be held in St. Anthony’s Church, 250 Revere St., Revere on Thursday, Aug. 31st at 10am. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
Summer is almost over. Somerville Public Schools welcomes students in grades 1 -12 back to school on Wednesday, August 30.
The first day for Kindergarten and PreKindergarten students is Tuesday, September 5. There will be no school on Friday, September 1 and Monday, September 4 (Labor Day.)
