I was contacted recently by a guy who needed money fast and wanted to sell stuff. He had some German World War 2 ceremonial daggers to sell. Tough items to sell. They usually have a few swastikas on them and as the war went on, the quality fell off because the Allies were raining tons of bombs onto the factories.

Street Sweeping Alerts Available
Mayor Joseph A. Curtatone and the Somerville Traffic and Parking Department remind all residents that regular street sweeping schedules officially resume Sunday, April 1, and continue through Dec. 31, 2018. Because street sweeping takes place only on weekdays, this means the first day of sweeping this season will take place on Monday, April 2.

On April 16, Peter Lorinser will be running his third Boston Marathon for a very special cause: finding cures for cancer. On Patriots Day, which is better known to many us as Marathon Monday, Peter is running the 2018 Boston Marathon as a member of the Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge (DFMC) team.

Last year, I had the unique opportunity to knock on about 13,000 doors and to ask people about their hopes for Somerville. People told me funny stories, showed me pictures of their kids, and talked about national politics. Common across households, though, was one point. A majority of people — of all ages, stages, and situations — said they struggle with housing affordability.

The Somerville community was invited to learn more about Somerville High School’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs at the 2018 CTE/Vocational Fair on Saturday, March 24.
Attendees enjoyed a tour of the school’s CTE programs and an opportunity to participate in hands-on activities in the shops.

Somerville Police and Somerville Housing Authority officers were dispatched to a Highland Ave. residence on reports of a man who was committing a breaking and entering.
Upon their arrival, the officers located a man fitting the description of Joanir Deoliveira, whose mother reportedly lived in the building.
