Somerville’s Bunker Hill Day Schedule

Monday, June 18, is Bunker Hill Day and City offices will be closed for the holiday. Street sweeping as well as trash, recycling, and yard waste collection will remain on a normal schedule. Because of the holiday, parking meters and resident parking permit enforcement will not be in effect.

Kiwanis Club of Somerville awards scholarships

Distinguished Past President David O’Brien, Chair of the Scholarship Committee, explained that the college scholarships are funded by the sale of Lucky K tickets which are sold by the members throughout the year.

Somerville Rotary Education Fund scholarship winner

Each year, the Somerville Rotary Club awards two scholarships to deserving Somerville residents and high school seniors who are planning on going to college. On May 22, they were honored by the presence of one of this year’s scholarship winners at their weekly meeting. Mei Mei Collins, a senior at Somerville High School, President of the Somerville High School National Honor Society. Collins will be attending Harvard University in the fall to study Environmental Engineering.

Full Circle School held its graduation ceremony on June 6 at the Arts the Armory. Next Wave Junior High School and Full Circle High School teach to students who have difficulty learning in traditional educational settings. They are a safe place for everyone and every member of the school community is treated with respect.
