Local painters, choreographers and other artists gathered together last Thursday, June 13, at 259 Lowell St. for the SomerVision2040 Forum for Local Artists. The goal of the forum is for local artists to express their concerns and ideas about how the city can better support its arts and creative economy. Greg Jenkins, head of the local Arts Council, Tom Galligani, City Economic Development Director and, Victor Nascimento, Forum Coordinator, were present to answer questions.

During their latest regular meeting on June 13 at Somerville City Hall, the City Council was touched by an inspirational story of one man who dedicated his time to the community.
Jon Bernstein, originally from North Carolina, moved to Somerville after receiving his degree in childhood development at Lesley University.

Wondering what’s happening with the vacant Star Market (Winter Hill) store and lot? Well, hopefully tonight, Wednesday, June 19, 6:00 p.m., at the Healey School on Meacham St., you can find out. Mayor Joe Curtatone and Ward 4 City Councilor Jesse Clingan will be speaking and answering questions. City staff will be present in case Mayor Joe and Councilor Jesse need help in answering. Apparently, there are several options they are exploring. This is a big thing for Winter Hill. Hopefully, some answers of what they plan on doing with it will be forthcoming.

Last Saturday night, after months of advertising all over the place, the East Somerville Reunion finally took place.
The event was held at the Somerville City Club function hall in East Somerville. Approximately 175 and more attended. with lots of laughs and old talk about the various parts of East Somerville each was associated with.

On Monday of this week, it was announced that Mayor Joseph A. Curtatone of Somerville filed a civil lawsuit against the blog Barstool Sports as well as their associate Kirk Minihane.
Curtatone alleges that Minihane impersonated Boston Globe reporter Kevin Cullen and illegally recorded the phone interview for illicit purposes.

Somerville is the first location in America to celebrate its flag before the constellation of stars on it began to grow. After the Battle of Bunker Hill, Colonial troops withdrew to fortify Prospect Hill. It was there, during the next year, that America’ s union began to form. Prospect Hill became known as General Washington’s Citadel, his command post during the siege of Boston.
