Leo Murphy, of 10 Prospect Hill Rd. N., Weymouth, October 19, 2:03 p.m., arrested at Beacon Pl. on a charge of failure to stop or yield and operation of a motor vehicle under the influence of liquor.

The City of Somerville is currently seeking applicants for a member of the public with expertise in urban forestry to join the Urban Forestry Committee, as well as a youth member for the Committee. The Committee’s input is intended to support and guide policies and plans currently being reviewed and advanced by the Mayor’s Office of Strategic Planning and Community Development and the Department of Public Works.

Join in at the last SomerStreets festival of the year, the spooky and fun “Monster Mashed-up” on Sunday, October 20, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. (rain date October 27) on Somerville Ave. between Union Square and Park St. SomerStreets is the City of Somerville’s take on the internationally renowned Open Streets concept, closing busy city streets to vehicles, and opening them up for cycling, walking, dancing, running, and other modes of activity. Through SomerStreets, the City and its community partners aim to promote and encourage easy access to physical activity, fresh foods, and reconnecting with neighborhoods and businesses and their unique cultural elements in a thriving urban environment.

As the City of Somerville prepares to award Community Preservation Act (CPA) funds for Fiscal Year 2020, the Community Preservation Committee (CPC) is holding a public hearing of the FY20 applications on Wednesday, October 23, at 6:30 p.m. in the third floor Community Room at the Visiting Nurse Association, 259 Lowell St. Come hear about the project proposals before the Community Preservation Committee and tell us which you think should be funded.

Soggy Po Boys album release show

The Soggy Boys will be celebrating the release of their new album “All In Favor” on Thursday, October 26 at Thunder Road.

The call for a voice vote is as old as the Parthenon and signals the time to be decisive. Little is decided easily in any governing body, and likewise in a seven-piece ensemble. The Soggy Boys’ new album, All In Favor, is the gavel that strikes, ending further discussion. For the first time in seven years, the decision made itself. Everyone silently agreed, it was time to make this record.

The City of Somerville is currently seeking applicants for a member of the public with expertise in urban forestry to join the Urban Forestry Committee, as well as a youth member for the Committee. The Committee’s input is intended to support and guide policies and plans currently being reviewed and advanced by the Mayor’s Office of Strategic Planning and Community Development and the Department of Public Works. The Committee shall advise the city on matters related to the management and maintenance of all existing and new trees and shrubs on public grounds and public ways. Members may also review issues related to the health, effective maintenance, and protection of existing trees and shrubs on public grounds and public ways; update information in the tree inventory; support public education and outreach on urban forestry; and provide comments during any city permitting review processes.

Initially it came via violent struggle and later via democratic reform, but our collective sense of the “self” in self-government has undergone constant revision.
