The MBTA’s Bus Network Redesign is a major initiative aimed at improving bus service reliability, frequency, and connectivity throughout the region. The initiative’s first phase will go live on December 15. The service changes and frequency improvements will affect Route 86Route 104, Route 109, Route 110, and Route 116/117 in Chelsea, Everett, Revere, Malden, Somerville, Cambridge, Allston, Brighton, and East Boston. Preparations and outreach for the rollout of these changes to implement more frequent service and better routes are underway.

DCR Traffic Advisory: Alewife Brook Parkway

On Saturday, November 2, 2024, the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) will close a lane of Alewife Brook Parkway (eastbound) from Rindge Avenue to Somerville Community Path overpass in the City of Somerville from 3:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. to accommodate paving work. Traffic patterns will be clearly marked, and a police detail will be on site.

We highly recommend using Daylight Saving as a reminder to:

  • Check/replace missing or expired items in your first aid and emergency kits
  • Clean out your dryer filter and hose
  • Reverse the direction of your ceiling fan
  • Check the pressure and expiration dates of your fire extinguishers
