  • Case Counts: As of 8:30 p.m. yesterday, May 4, a total of 639 Somerville residents have tested positive for COVID-19, 277 of them have since recovered, and sadly there have been nine deaths.

In response to community requests, they  have extended their pre-order only Farmers Market through May 16th. Order ahead of time from our vendors, and pick up at the Armory on Saturday, between 9:30am-12pm, 191 Highland Ave.

Market pickup is outdoors and all social distancing guidelines will be followed, including line management and no touch transactions.

Obituary: Robert E. Carroll

Robert E. Carroll, 78, retired Police Chief for the City of Somerville, died at his Winchester home on May 1, 2020. He was the beloved husband for 57 years of Annette (Boudrot) Carroll.

He was the dedicated father of Kevin Carroll and his wife Louise of Natick, Bethanne Saef and her husband Jeff of Boston, and Patrice Carroll of Worcester; the proud grandfather of Timothy, Stephen, Margaret, Emma, Benjamin, Caroline, and Emily. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. He has been reunited in heaven with his beloved son, Bryan Carroll who died in 2019, as well as three siblings, James, William, and Theresa.

Recently, Ward 5 has seen a rash of motor vehicle tire and rim thefts. The suspects are believed to be operating a dark gray 2014 Acura TL with no front plate. Residents are asked to call 911 should they see a vehicle matching this description or any suspicious parties between the hours of 1:00 and 4:30 a.m. Please read the list to understand what behavior could indicate a theft in progress .
