EPA to conduct phase 1 removal of PCBs and other contaminants, investing $3 million in matching funds into site 

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the City of Somerville have signed an Administrative Order of Consent in which the EPA has committed to coordinate with the city on remediation of Conway Field in accordance with federal and state environmental regulations.

On Thursday, August 6, 2020, Somerville Police received a call for a report of a male with a gun inside of an apartment on Highland Ave. Upon arrival, the reporting party advised officers that the suspect was in the back room and was pointing a gun at a female’s head. Officers relayed this information to SPD Dispatchers, and advised Dispatch that all cruisers, as well as Sgt. Marino, were on location.

Arts community town hall meeting scheduled for Sept. 15

First in an upcoming series of COVID town halls hosted by ResiStat

Mayor Joe Curtatone, the City Council, the Somerville Arts Council, and the city’s ResiStat program invite Somerville’s artists and the cultural community, as well as all interested persons, to join a virtual town hall to discuss challenges faced by the arts community that have been amplified by the COVID-19 pandemic as well as possible solutions. The meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 15, starting at 6:30 p.m.

Mayor Joe Curtatone with an important message for everyone to make responding to the census a priority issue. If you haven’t already been counted go to https://my2020census.gov/ or call 844-330-2020. Funding for things like pandemic relief hinge upon every person in our city being counted.

 

Bicycle lane extension also part of transit corridor upgrade

As part of an MBTA initiative to make bus service more efficient and safer for passengers during the COVID-19 pandemic, Somerville will be installing a westbound dedicated bus lane along Washington St. in East Somerville between Tufts St. and McGrath Highway.
