Currently, the city does not plan to call a snow emergency.

Remember to park at least 20 feet away from intersections to leave space for plows and emergency vehicles to pass.

 

Registration is now open for Somerville 3000, a free online February vacation program for Somerville youth. Blast off for a futuristic week of engaging activities to explore what life might look like in the next millennium. Activities will be offered Tuesday, February 16, through Friday, February 19, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

SCES providing rides to vaccination sites for older adults

Somerville-Cambridge Elder Services (SCES) is offering free transportation, via one of SCES’ transportation providers, for local older adults to nearby COVID-19 vaccination sites.

SCES is encouraging those who are eligible to get vaccinated, and we do not want transportation to be an obstacle for the people we serve. If you are an older adult (age 60 and up) from Cambridge or Somerville, and you need a ride to your vaccination site, please give us a call!

Somerville businesses to remain at 25% capacity limit

The City of Somerville will not join the Commonwealth in raising capacity limits on Monday, February 8 for certain businesses. Capacity limits in Somerville businesses will remain at 25% or the limit set in the business’s city-approved health and safety plan until further notice.

On Thursday, February 4, 2021, at approximately 11:07 p.m., the Somerville Police Department responded to a report of an alleged assault in the area of the 400 block of Medford Street. A white male is alleged to have erratically approached a male and female and to have struck the male on the head several times with a firearm.

  • Who is currently eligible to get the vaccine?: Right now everyone in Phase 1 (which includes healthcare workers, first responders, people in long-term care facilities, and people in congregate care settings) as well people 75 or older are eligible to get the COVID-19 vaccine. Somerville Police officers were dispatched to the Walgreens Family Company–Pharmacy Store on McGrath Hwy, last week on reports of larceny. Police were informed that the suspect, Terrell Dorest, of Medford,  who was an employee, was in the office with manager.
