AFC receives top scores in consumer satisfaction survey

Adult Family Care (AFC) received high scores for supporting friend and family caregivers in the program’s 2020 Customer Satisfaction Survey.

The survey sought feedback from all families served by AFC, asking both caregivers and the people receiving care about their level of satisfaction with the program and the support they receive.

Jingle Bell Run traffic delays

Beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, December 19, the annual Jingle Bell Run road race will be held in and around the Davis, Teele, and Ball square areas. Short traffic delays may occur in the areas of Holland Street, Broadway in Teele Square, North Street, Powder House Boulevard, Broadway in Ball Square, and Cedar Street.

Flag Raising on Prospect Hill

The City of Somerville’s 246th annual flag-raising ceremony will take place on New Year’s Day, Saturday, January 1, 2022. This celebration will begin at City Hall at 11:30 a.m. with a procession to the Prospect Hill Monument. At the monument, there will be a short program including Colonial songs, light refreshments, and speeches.

The City of Somerville invites Somerville residents, workers, and visitors to complete a survey to inform citywide parking policies. 

This survey will provide vital insights into existing travel patterns and public priorities for parking management and curbside space. It is one component of the Citywide Parking and Curb-Use Study, a multipronged effort to collect data and develop recommendations to make Somerville’s parking system work more equitably, efficiently, and consistently for residents, businesses, and visitors.

Cambridge Trust pledges $5,000 to support Little Necessities

Somerville-Cambridge Elder Services (SCES) is pleased to announce that Cambridge Trust has pledged to match the first $5,000 of donations for the Little Necessities program this holiday season.

Little Necessities is a locally funded program that gives SCES the flexibility to meet essential needs that are not covered by government programs; a new mattress after a bedbug infestation; a microwave for someone who can no longer cook due to memory loss; or a gift card to purchase emergency groceries are just a few examples of how Little Necessities provides help.

Postponed: COVID-19 Remembrance

Updated:  The COVID-19 Remembrance Ceremony scheduled for Saturday, December 18, is being postponed because of the weather forecast. This event will be rescheduled sometime in the spring when warmer weather will allow more residents to participate. An announcement will be made when a new date is selected.
