Somerville Board of Health lifts indoor mask mandate

After nearly two years of requiring face masks in public indoor spaces, the City of Somerville Board of Health has lifted these mandates.

Since April 2020, the City Somerville has been requiring face masks at all indoor spaces in the city. Now, almost two years after the implementation of these, masks are finally off in Somerville. It now joins Boston and other cities and towns in the area that have lifted their indoor mask requirements.

Masks are also still required for city buildings. Beginning March 14, masks will be optional for students and staff of Somerville Public Schools. ‘Connections/Conexiones’ spotlights Cuban artists

The Brickbottom Gallery will be showing original prints by contemporary Cuban artists, most of whom are living on the island. This is the first half of an international print exchange.

In 2019, Janette Brossard Duharte, president of the Printmaking section of the Visual Artist Association of Cuba, approached The Boston Printmakers with an idea for an international print exchange. She invited members of The Boston Printmakers to exhibit in Havana and asked the organization to sponsor an exhibit of Cuban artists in the Boston area.

The day after I finished reading On Earth As It Is, a panel of the world’s foremost scientists warned the world’s nations – again – of the climate consequences of our escalating greenhouse gas emissions. Sea levels are on track to rise several feet, to make islands and seacoasts uninhabitable. The floods, droughts, heat, fire, storms, and plagues already bringing hunger, displacement, and elevated death tolls to our world will only accelerate if our fossil fuel consumption patterns continue.
