Yart Sale is a citywide event that will take place on Saturday, August 13, 12:00 to 6:00 p.m., (rain date 8/14). Back in the day there was a dairy queen at the corner of Morrison Avenue and Cedar Street. It was right in the middle of a thickly residential neighborhood. There was also a Friendly’s at the corner of Cedar Street and Highland Avenue. We had it made back then! My mouth waters every time I see the Dairy Queen commercials on television.

On August 4, the weekly Planning Board meeting was held with a number of items on the agenda. The meeting was led by Michael Capuano with three other Board members including Ameila Aboff, Erin Geno, and Jahan Habib. There were a number of items on the agenda, such as approving the requests for the continuation of zoning movements around the city of Somerville.

The Somerville Homeless Coalition was established in 1985 in response to the homelessness social crisis. They are on a mission to give support to individuals and families who are homeless or are almost to the point of homelessness. The coalition’s goal is to help these individuals and families to obtain and maintain affordable housing.
