Meetings for All Seven Wards Will Be Held in October  

Mayor Katjana Ballantyne and the Somerville City Council invite residents to attend the fall Community Meetings of 2022. After a hiatus during the pandemic, this twice-yearly meeting series, formerly known as the ResiStat program, will return to each of Somerville’s seven wards to share the latest City progress and neighborhood updates with residents, while also providing an opportunity for residents, elected officials, and City staff to talk with one another.

On 9/1/22 at approximately 6:23 p.m., Somerville Police responded to High St for report of a fight. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim who stated he was punched in the face following an altercation with a male party at a neighboring house. The suspect was described as a medium to heavy build white male wearing a blue t-shirt.

Ryan Harrington Foundation Corn Toss Tournament, Sept 10

The Ryan Harrington Foundation Cornhole Tournament, taking place at Trum Field.  Registration fee is $50 per team, two players per team. There are men’s and women’s divisions. A cash prize goes to the winners of each division. They will be selling t-shirts, hats, food and drinks at the field as well as having raffle items and a 50/50. There will also be kids activities. All monies raised will go to youth organizations in local communities.

Somer Fest 2022

The fourth annual iteration of the free performance art festival occurs on Friday, September 9 from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m (rain date 9/16) at Seven Hills Park behind the Davis Square MBTA station.

It features a live DJ as well as folk, R&B, Hip-Hop and genre-fusion performances from soloists and bands alike.

In the old days we used to go to Howard Johnson, The Golden Egg or Kay and Chips for breakfast. There are a lot of other great breakfast places serving during the traditional breakfast hours. In Ball Square, there’s Ball Square Café and breakfast, Soundbites and Kelly’s Diner. I’ve also eaten at a great breakfast at Buddy’s Diner on Washington St.

Obituary: T. Michael Sullivan, Jr.

T. Michael Sullivan, Jr. – Of Somerville and Hampton Beach, N.H., age 74. He was the son of the late Thomas M. and Mary (McNulty) Sullivan and the devoted grandson of the late Michael and Elizabeth (McDonough) McNulty. He is survived by his brother Tony, and his sister-in-law Kate Sullivan, and their daughter, Michael’s favorite niece, Nora. He is also survived by his cousins, with whom he grew up on Summer St., the Cronins: Sheila, Bob, Susan, Marc, Stephen, and Dennis. Other cousins whom he leaves behind are the Concord, N.H. Sullivans, the Melrose Sullivans, the Burlington Driscolls, the Melrose Gallaghers, and the Dorchester and San Diego Sullivans. He also leaves behind his dear and devoted friend Michele Smith, who cared for him through his final illness, and her family who was so kind to him throughout his life.
