Christopher Hope, Founder and CEO of Loop Lab – a BIPOC led nonprofit social enterprise that specializes in media arts internships and digital storytelling in Greater Boston – has experienced first-hand how becoming more intimately aware of the gaps in food access has allowed him to identify food insecurity amongst his students.

In 1969 I was 16 years old. I landed a job as a stock boy at Woolworths five and ten cent store in Davis Square. We called it Woolies. Woolworths was where Starbucks is now. I started out doing the stock room duties and got promoted all the way up to luncheonette worker where my favorites were grilled cheese sandwiches and hotdogs.

Somerville Public Schools Enrollment Portal opens from January 4 through February 24, 2023. Families who enroll by February 24 deadline will be eligible for first round of school assignments. 

The Somerville Public Schools’ (SPS) annual school enrollment period for prekindergarten and kindergarten students will open on January 4, 2023, and SPS staff are gearing up to make sure Somerville families are ready and able to enroll students. All students who will be 4 years old by August 31, 2023 are eligible for the district’s PreK program. All students who will be 5 years old by August 31, 2023 are eligible for Kindergarten.
