Anna Roberto, of 71 Union St., Brighton, January 2, 5:27 p.m., arrested at Webster Ave. on a charge of operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended license, and on warrant charges of unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and failure to stop or yield.

Michael Riccio, of 26 Derby St., January 4, 11:20 a.m., arrested at Washington St. on warrant charges of possession of a large capacity firearm and possession of ammunition with no FID card.

Obituary: Leonard ‘Leo’ Saltman Jr.

Saltman, Leonard “Leo” Jr. of Somerville, January 8, 2017 at age 49. Devoted husband of Celia (Miller) Saltman. Loving father of Matthew, Kelsie, Shayne and Megan Saltman. Proud and Cherished Papa of Renata. Adored son of Sandra (Dobbins) Saltman and the late Leonard Saltman Sr. Loving Brother of Cynthia Saltman. Beloved Son in law of the late Richard and Joan Miller. Leo is survived by 15 nieces and nephews, was the great uncle of 3 and will be greatly missed by his many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, but especially by his dog Deeks.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration – ‘One Somerville’

This free family event takes place Monday, January 16, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the East Somerville Community School Auditorium. The festivities include musical and other performances, student essayists, mayoral remarks, a keynote address, and refreshments. Join family and friends in celebrating “One Somerville” at this inspirational annual celebration.

Somerville State of the City Address

The Mayor’s annual State of the City Address, and mid-term addresses by the President of the Board of Aldermen and the Chairperson of the Somerville School Committee will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 9 in the Aldermanic Chambers at City Hall, 93 Highland Ave. Members of the public are invited to come for this look back at the past year’s efforts as well as a look forward to City and School initiatives in the coming year. Additionally, as the City will celebrate its 175th Birthday in 2017, attendees will be welcomed to learn more about the City’s history through photos, exhibits, and interactive activities at a reception following the State of the City Address. Refreshments will be served.

Somerville Snow Emergency Ends

All cars must be moved from municipal lots by 11:30 a.m. to avoid ticketing and towing. Property owners must shovel sidewalks within 6 daylight hours following end of snowfall.

The City of Somerville’s snow emergency will end, and normal parking rules will go back into effect, on Sunday, Jan. 8, at 9:30 a.m. Here’s some important information to help you avoid being ticketed and to be a good neighbor.

Somerville libraries closing at 3:30 p.m. due to weather

Due to developing weather conditions, all three branches of the Somerville Public Library will close early at 3:30 p.m. today, Saturday, June 7. As a reminder, a snow emergency is in effect in Somerville and all cars must be moved to the EVEN side of the road (unless posted otherwise) by 2 p.m. to avoid ticketing and towing.
