A special meeting of the Board of Aldermen will be held at City Hall at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 13, to hold a public hearing on a petition signed by 129 registered voters asking the city’s pension fund to divest from any investments tied to the fossil fuel industry.

His brother Christopher Langton is also at the Olympics as an alternate for TeamUSA. What you may not know is that both Steve and Chris Langton are former employees of Langton & Douglas, a contracting company in Somerville.

The city of Somerville and Green City Growers, a Somerville-based urban agriculture company, are seeking applicants for the 2014 Urban Agriculture Ambassador program, a community-based food education initiative. The program, which started as a pilot in 2013, will train 20 residents in urban-growing techniques in exchange for 30 hours of volunteer service in garden projects across the city.

A Somerville man employed by the Cambridge Health Alliance as a uniformed special police officer in its public safety department was arraigned Friday, Jan. 31, on drug charges after allegedly selling cocaine to an undercover officer.

William Kelly, 32, was arraigned in Somerville District Court following his arrest Jan. 30 and charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, conspiracy to violate drug laws and possession of cocaine. Somerville District Court Judge Maurice Flynn set bail at $1,000 and ordered Kelly not to leave the state.

Body found in Norwood ID’d as Somerville man

Authorities have been able to identify the man found dead behind the Coakley Middle School in Norwood late last night.

The man, Vincent Lalli, age 66, was reported missing to the Somerville Police Department earlier this week, according to Norfolk District Attorney Michael W. Morrissey and Norwood Police Chief William G. Brooks, III. The identification was made through fingerprint analysis. He was last seen a week ago.

Norwood Police Detectives, Massachusetts State Police Detectives attached to Morrissey’s office, State Police Crime Scene Services and other agencies continue to actively investigate. Anyone with any information relative to Lalli’s recent activities is urged to contact the Massachusetts State Police at 508-820-2121

The fate of a dog ordered euthanized after biting a man Oct. 31 will soon be decided following an appeal hearing at Somerville District Court Jan. 8.

Rocco, a 6-year-old bullmastiff, has been held at the city kennel since the Halloween-night incident.
