Norman Joncas, 21, of 6 Devon Ct., North Andover, August 5, 1:22 p.m., arrested at 709 McGrath Hwy. on warrant charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, drug possession to distribute, drug violation near a school, conspiracy to violate drug law, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, unregistered motor vehicle, operation of a motor vehicle under the influence of liquor, operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended license, marked lanes violation, and unlawful possession of fireworks.

Project STAR 2013

Project STAR (Somerville Theatre Arts and Recreation) summer camp is presenting their end of the season show on Thursday, August 15 at 7 p.m. at the West Somerville Neighborhood School and it’s free! STAR is a 6-week free program that teaches kids how to act, dance, sing and produce a show. It’s supported by the Mayor’s Office, The Communications Department and Somerville Recreation.

Last week’s story, The Class of ’81 turns 50, was written by Anthony Accardi Jr.

One of my sisters’ former boyfriends had a 1967 blue “goat.” A GTO with 4 on the floor. It was the coolest car I had ever seen up until then. Even when he popped the clutch and the car ended up on the sidewalk in front of the Middlesex Bank on Highland Ave. in Davis Square. By the way, he was cited for recklessness and driving barefooted. But boy, was that car nice.

Ignite! A fire and street food festival after dark

tiger 13Saturday, August 10, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., the Somerville Arts Council will transform Union Square into a bustling outdoor night market featuring the food of local restaurants, including Casa B, Ebi Suchi and Taqueria La Mexicana.

Fire throwers, street performers and craftsters will populate the plaza, and there will be interactive food-themed activities. This night of global gastronomy should heat up the square considerably.

 

City expands electronics recycling program
