St. Clement football win streak ends at three

Any hopes of a three game winning streak by the St. Clement’s football team quickly fell by the wayside.

Quarterback Robert McMaster completed 10 of 15 passes for 216 yards with two touchdowns and also rushed for 88 yards and a score as Pope John handed the Anchormen a tough 40-12 defeat in Saturday’s match-up at Dilboy Field. With the loss, the Anchormen fell to 3-5 overall.

The Somerville Police Department held a Haunted House at the West District substation, 1154 Broadway on October 29th and 30th. This was a huge success with over 500 people going thru the Haunted House, and 300 treat bags given out to kids.

Somerville football loses to Everett

Jon DiBiaso simply made life miserable for the Somerville defense Friday night. The Everett quarterback passed for 241 yards along with five touchdowns as Everett cruised to a 42-14 win over the Highlanders at Everett Stadium.

With the loss, the Highlanders clinch a losing season, while falling to 2-6 and 1-2 in the GBL while Everett remains unbeaten at 8-0 overall.

Somerville Police: Infant in backseat of heroin dealer’s car

An 18-month old child was in the backseat of a car stopped in connection with a heroin bust Nov. 3 in Somerville, police said.

Police said the child was in the car with two drug suspects stopped on Dana Street and caught with cocaine and heroin. The child was placed into temporary custody of family relatives and a report was filed with the state Department of Child and Family Services, police said.

NLC Prescription Program helps city save $5,000

Mayor Joseph A. Curtatone and Somerville Health Department Director Paulette Renault-Caragianes announced that, one year after the launch of the National League of Cities’ Prescription Drug Discount program, the City has seen more than $5,000 in savings to residents, and expects the program to continue to grow in the coming months.  Offering an average of 23% savings per month individuals, the program is designed to help residents seeking relief from the high cost of prescription drugs.  The City of Somerville was the first Massachusetts municipality to offer the program through the NLC.
