The Somerville Kiwanis Club recently hosted over 120 senior citizens to a Thanksgiving dinner.  The event was held at the Culinary Arts restaurant at Somerville High School.  A full meal from rolls, turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, squash and cranberry, followed by apple pie a la mode, was prepared by high school Culinary Arts students under the supervision of Tom Cardon, Richard Brunet and David Ginivisian.

The meal was served by Kiwanians and the Somerville High School Girls Pride Basketball Team members.  At the event the basketball team was presented with a $500 donation from the Kiwanis Club.

Those instrumental in organizing the event along with Somerville Kiwanians Dave O’ Brien, Connie McGreal and President Frank Wright, were Cindy Hickey of the City’s Council on Aging and local businessman Sal Querusio.

After dinner the crowd was entertained by the Somerville Kiwanian Off-Key Singers directed by Past President Sal Bertolami, “the Maestro”!

The Kiwanis Club of Somerville meets every Thursday at the Mt. Vernon on Broadway beginning at 12:15 pm.
