Slice
Take this heart and slice
from north to south—
Assuming the heart
contains specific
territorial positions
Can be measured
and fixed despite
severity of wounds
Is not the wolf cry
or bat hanging in the attic
the fish flapping on docks
in all weather.
Eyes, unnoticed, turned inward.
