Master fiddler Jamie Laval returns to the Greater Boston area on Wednesday, November 6 at The Burren in Somerville. Jamie is recognized throughout the U.S. and Britain as one of the premier performers of traditional Celtic music on the international music scene today.

The popular Burren Backroom Series is presented by Boston’s Brian O’Donovan, host of the beloved A Celtic Sojourn on WGBH and producer of Celtic music for over thirty years.

Jamie takes his audiences on an exciting musical journey through Scotland, Ireland, and Brittany as he seamlessly blends passion, virtuosity, uncanny imitation of Highland bagpipes, innovative arrangement style, and the recounting of atmospheric mythic tales.

“One of the hottest fiddlers out there” (Asheville Citizen-Times) and “The next Alasdair Fraser” (Press & Post), Laval performed for Her Majesty the Queen, appeared on Dave Matthews’ platinum Some Devil album, and presented a TEDx Talk on the value of arts and music in our communities.

Murmurs and Drones, Laval’s third and most recent album, won the popular vote for “Best World Traditional Album” in the 2012 Independent Music Awards. Laval is also skilled composer, arranger of symphonic scores, and a devoted educator.

An evening concert experience with Jamie combines toe-tapping melodies, foot percussion, an innovative arrangement style, and the recounting of mythic tales from antiquity to create a beautiful atmosphere of Ireland, the Scottish Highlands, and Brittany.
