The Somerville Community Growing Center celebrated its reopening last Saturday morning with a crowd of friends, neighbors, and volunteers.

The first stage of the renovation of this unique urban garden/park was made possible with funds provided by the residents of Somerville through the city’s Community Preservation Act funds. For twenty-five years, people have come to enjoy a variety of events and nature-based programs in this little oasis near Union Square. The Friends of the Growing Center look forward to raising more funds to restore many of the plants that had to be cleared during the process.
