2019 Taste of Somerville at Assembly Row

On June 10, 2019, in Latest News, by The Somerville Times

One of Greater Boston’s premiere culinary events, the Taste of Somerville, returns on June 12th for its 21st year. This year’s Taste has a new, beautiful home on the waterfront at Assembly Row.

Last year’s event served over 1,200 guests a comprehensive array of food, drink, and entertainment from 60+ restaurants, bars, beverage providers, and local artisans.

“It’s no secret that Assembly Row has become one of the region’s premiere showcases for dining, shopping, and entertainment. What’s exciting about the new venue is the chance it gives us to bring dozens of restaurants from around Somerville —  from new independent and experimental discoveries to everyone’s favorite classics — all together in one bustling location,” says Luke O’Neil of the Taste of Somerville committee.

“Like we’ve been doing for years, the idea is to give our guests a chance to experience as much of the eclectic food and drink available in Somerville as they can handle in one evening,” says Morgan Bigley, chair of Somerville Chamber of Commerce Dining & Nightlife Group

“We want people to come away excited about their city and everything it has to offer.”

CHARITY
Proceeds from the event will once again support an exceptional local non-profit organization. This year’s beneficiary, the Walnut Street Center, is a human services agency that provides self-advocacy and community involvement support to some of the city’s most vulnerable citizens.

“The Walnut Street Center has always been rooted in the community providing the best in crucial human services for individuals with intellectual disabilities,” says Carolyne Guffey, Chief Executive Officer of the Walnut Street Center, Inc. “We are thrilled to be named for the second year as the charitable recipient of the Taste of Somerville, one of the most exciting and delicious food festivals that brings families together. The proceeds from ticket sales will continue to fund critical support services to adults with intellectual disabilities and their families.”
