A Somerville police officer was shot tonight on Gibbens and Central streets during an undercover bust of an illegal gun dealer, according to multiple sources close to the investigation.

Deputy Chief Paul Upton would not confirm the identity of the officer, but sources said Detective Mario Oliveira was shot multiple times and is being taken into surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital.
