A week from this Saturday, it’s the Third East Somerville Reunion, set for Saturday, June 15, at the Somerville City Club, across from Holiday Inn on Innerbelt Road. Thanks to hard work and efforts put into this by Dan Rogovich and his small but dedicated bunch of helpers, it should be a great one once again for one and all. The last time was two years ago and well over 100 to 150 attendees showed up from all over the state and across the country. Lots of people who grew up in East Somerville have missed the last two but wanted to have a third. Some of us here at The Somerville Times are from East Somerville we will be there and have already reached out to others. A small group of “down backers” behind the Bucket who grew up there in the 60’s will all be there. They meet every four or so months to talk about old times and great times. Help make this a success. Go online to Facebook to check it out. Ask Dan what you can do to help. He is looking for the food, entertainment and just plain East Somerville fun.

Come on people, let’s support all the businesses that are being affected by the bridge closings, including Lyndell’s Bakery and Ball Sq. Liquors in Ball Sq. They need people to show up. These places are open and can’t afford to lose business for a whole year. We need to support Ball Square, as well as lower Washington St. and other places across the city.

Celebrating their birthdays this week: Happy birthday to a good and smart guy, City At-Large Councilor Bill White is celebrating this week. Michael Albano, a former Somerville resident who still works here, is celebrating his birthday. We wish him a happy birthday. Happy birthday as well to Paul Camuso, a former City Councilor in Medford and well known here in Somerville. Happy birthday to Dave Byron, who grew up here in the city and is planning on moving back. We wish him a happy birthday. We also wish a happy birthday to another former resident who is now in Florida, Frank LoBuono. To those that are celebrating this week, and we didn’t post, again we wish you the best of birthdays.

No parking signs up and down Harvard Street in Medford. We heard it’s for a road closing. What are the politicians doing this year? With all the construction and closings, it’s almost impossible to get around in the City of Somerville. Must be some lame brain on the top floor of City Hall who just moved here from Ohio or someplace and wants to impart all this on us – or is it the politicians?
