The highest honor that a Lion's Club member can receive is the "Melvin Jones" award, which was recently presented to Somerville Lion's Club member Timothy O'Malley for his hard work and dedicated service to the club throughout the years. The award was presented during the Somerville Lion's Club Saint Patrick's Day Dinner Show/Charity Event this past week. Massachusetts 33K Vice District Governor Joyce Hogan had the honors of presenting the award to Tim in the function room before a big crowd of members and supporters at the Mount Vernon Restaurant.

Also that evening, local Somerville attorney Maria Curtatone was sworn in as the newest member of the Somerville Lion's Club. During the evening, there were raffles, give-a-ways and tickets to see the famous "Harlem Globetrotters" basketball team that is playing in Boston next week that were auctioned off to the highest bidders. All proceeds from the event will be distributed to local charities that the Somerville Lion's Club supports.
