On Monday, April 8, Prospect Hill Park will close to the public for the next phase of the Prospect Hill Park Rehabilitation Project. Preliminary work began in October 2018. The park is expected to reopen in 2020.

The renovated park will feature landscape and accessibility improvements, as well as elements to highlight the site’s significance in American history. As part of this project, new plantings will provide a net increase of 47 trees in the park, and traffic-calming measures will be installed on nearby roads to create a safer pedestrian environment, among other enhancements. New pathways, signage, and lighting will also showcase the history of Prospect Hill, where George Washington’s army raised the first American flag in 1776.

While Prospect Hill Park is closed, patrons may want to use Senator Corbett Playground, Stone Place Park, Walnut Street Park, or Nunziato Field, all of which are within a half-mile of Prospect Hill.
