Somerville-Cambridge Elder Services (SCES) invites exhibitors, sponsors, and the general public to save the date for Elder Fair 2019.

The free annual health and wellness expo will showcase a wide range of services and programs for older adults, caregivers, and people with disabilities on Wednesday, April 10.

Now in its 20th year, Elder Fair offers a mix of health screenings and opportunities to connect with organizations that help maintain safety, independence, and well-being, explained SCES Director of Outreach and Community Relations Nathan Lamb.

“Providing options that help people maintain independence in the setting of their choice is central to our mission at SCES, and we see Elder Fair as one more way we can connect people with helpful resources,” said Lamb.

Roughly 350 area older adults and caregivers attended Elder Fair 2018, and Lamb anticipates another strong showing this year.

“The community has really embraced this event,” said Lamb. “There’s something great about bringing everybody together, to celebrate Aging in Place and the people we serve.”

Some 63 agencies and vendors hosted exhibits at Elder Fair last year. The expo will also feature several SCES programs, such as:

The Aging Information Center, which provides free information and guidance on aging-related issues. SCES Elder Care Advisors will be on-hand to answer questions, and they can also provide information about agency programs that provide in-home care, Meals on Wheels, elder abuse prevention, and more!

Adult Family Care, which helps MassHealth eligible people who cannot live alone receive the care they need from friends and family, by providing training, compensation, and ongoing support for live-in caregivers.

Community Living Options, a private-pay Geriatric Care Management program that helps families with care planning, care management, downsizing/relocation, hospital-to-home transitions, and more.

Potential sponsors and exhibitors are invited to contact Margarida Mendonca at 617-628-2601 ext. 3106 for more information. The deadline for completed registration is March 1.

Elder Fair 2019 will take place at the Holiday Inn Boston-Bunker Hill (30 Washington St. in Somerville) from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10.

Elder Fair is free and open to the general public. Older adults or caregivers with questions about Elder Fair are invited to call 617-628-2601, ext. 3618.
