A 46-year-old Cambridge man tried to sell beef jerky for beer money before screaming at police officers to “Shoot me, just shoot me,” on Oct. 19, police said.

Employees of the Starbucks in Davis Square called police to remove Joseph Cardosi, who was bothering customers, police said.

Cardosi allegedly told officers “I didn’t do [anything]” when they asked for identification. Cardosi would not take his hand out of his pocket and wrestled with officers checking it for weapons, police said. He allegedly yelled, “What, you want my [expletive] beef jerky, take it.”

Cardosi kicked and spit at officers until they hit him with a burst of pepper spray, police said. He was arrested and charged with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.

After he was arrested, an off duty Medford police officer told officers that before they arrived Cardosi offered to sell him a package of beef jerky for a beer.
