A lot of Somerville’s public parks and recreational areas have been or will be undergoing significant renovations and improvements over the course of time.
This is, of course, a good thing and something that is necessary on an ongoing basis as routine maintenance. There have been instances, however, when a certain amount of controversy has been generated, for example, over budgeting, best use of spaces, hours of operation, natural versus artificial turf, etc.
These are all important issues that city planners – in tandem with public opinion – must deal with in a thorough and efficient manner. Thus, the various public hearings and open meetings scheduled for each renovation project prove to be a vital part of these planning processes.
Be a part of this important process by attending and sharing your views at any or all of the upcoming meetings:
Foss Park Community Meeting, Wednesday, December 12, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at East Somerville Community School.
Lincoln Park Design Review Community Meeting, Monday, December 17, 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. at Argenziano School.
Allen Street Playground Community Meeting, Tuesday, December 18, 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. at the Public Safety Building, 220 Washington St.
Your participation and input are welcome and needed. Please consider joining in, for the betterment of all.
