Our poet this week writes: “My name is Kadrianna Letts I am a sophomore at Endicott College. My major is Communication Sciences and Disorders. I play soccer here at Endicott. I was born and raised in Beverly Massachusetts and I am a current resident. I like to write about the simple things in life; it interests me to see how much detail I can go into about the little things that we miss in life.”
A Bottle of Disappointment
Sun
peering
through
my curtains
Saying
hello to me
before
I’d like to meet it
Vision
blurry
Reaching
for the Poland Springs
with
its forest so rich
so dense
And
waterfall, aquarium blue
threaded
with silver satin
The
skin on my lips
the
ground following a 7.0 earthquake
Sahara
Desert
Drought
Intense
thirst
dominating
all my senses
A young
girl anxiously awaits
her
new toy
Suddenly
swallowed
by disappointment
The
bottle looked me
straight
in the eye
It chuckled
Abandoned
Empty
Recycled
No longer
my slave
Now
free
to travel
the world
— Kadrianna Letts
