One couch to sleep on is enough
Look at all these things. These gorgeous things. I own piles of warm sweaters, an array of heels, five rings, an assortment of cheeses in my fridge, four throw pillows against the head of my bed, a different scented candle for every season, some of my jeans have rips in them, some don’t, I have thousands of followers on my seven different social media accounts, I have three middle names, and subscriptions to 5 magazines that all write about the same thing. Yet I feel no different than the day before. I choose a pod from my coffee machine in the morning while I listen to music off of my Spotify premium account. Oh these things. These wonderful things, are beginning to feel not so pleasant. I sit on the floor by the front door of my house. A house I bought along the seashore with not a single soul to share it with. And as I look around, my wonderful things drain from view. And all that is left is a couch in the middle of the room. One. So I climb over and curl up on this simple, plain piece of furniture. One couch to sleep on is enough I think to myself as I doze off to sleep, thinking tomorrow will be different.
