The 23rd Annual Somerville Homeless Coalition Road Race takes place on Saturday, October 6, at 9:00 a.m., taking off from Davis Square in Somerville. The race starts and ends at the end of the bike path, behind Rite Aid on Highland Ave. and Grove St.
All proceeds from the race benefit the Somerville Homeless Coalition, an innovative non-profit organization which has the mission to provide homeless and near homeless individuals and families with individualized supportive services and tailored housing solutions with a goal of obtaining and maintaining affordable housing.
Registration and check in on race day is 7:30 – 8:30 a.m. Wheelchairs must pre-register by Friday, September 21, to ensure safety precautions with local police.
Early number pick-up available the week before in Davis Square. Details on pick-up option will be emailed at a later date.
Registration, start, finish, brunch and awards ceremony take place behind Rite Aid at the end of the Bike Path near Highland Ave. and Grove St. in Davis Square.
We highly recommend taking public transportation as parking in Davis Square is expensive and you will get a ticket if your meter expires. The Davis Square T station is one block from registration. Take the College Ave. exit and walk back on the busway when you reach the street.
If driving, we recommend that you drive to Alewife T station in Cambridge, located near the intersection of Rtes. 2 and 16, and park in garage located there. Take the T one stop inbound to Davis Square.
Meters are $1 per hour and early Saturday morning you will find parking on the street. There are metered parking lots on Grove St. next to Rite Aid and one block south of Highland Ave. as well as on Day Street and one behind Harvard Vanguard on Buena Vista off Holland.
Bag check-in is available during the race.
