Please note that the playgrounds on Central Hill in front of the Somerville High School Atrium will be temporarily closed for public safety reasons as contractors for the Somerville High School reconstruction project conduct tree removals.

Dates of Temporary Playground Closure

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but please be aware that the playgrounds will be closed with the safety of our residents, particularly our children, in mind.

The tree removals along the existing SHS concourse are being conducted during this time period in preparation for construction in the coming weeks and months. As the project progresses, these playgrounds may need to be closed again, and we will be sure to notify you well in advance of those closures. In the coming weeks, we anticipate that the renovations of Hoyt-Sullivan Playground on Central Street will be complete, and we are doing as much as we can to ensure that the Central Hill Playgrounds remain open until we can be sure another neighborhood playground is available for your students.
