With the Tuesday, September 4, State Primary quickly approaching, the City of Somerville would like to remind residents that the deadline for registering to vote in that election is Wednesday, August 15 (by 8 p.m. if registering in person at City Hall or by 11:59 p.m. if registering online). This is also the deadline for voters wanting to update their address or change party affiliation.
Residents may register to vote by visiting the Elections Department at Somerville City Hall, calling 617-625-6600 x4200 to have a voter registration form mailed, visiting www.somervillema.gov/elections to print a registration form to mail, or by registering online at www.registertovotema.com. Online applications require a valid ID issued by the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV), as well as a signature on file with the RMV.
This year voters will decide a number of races, including those for the offices of Governor, Senator in Congress and General Court, Representative in Congress and General Court, Attorney General, District Attorney, and more. Sample ballots for the State Primary, as well as additional information about other important upcoming election dates like voter registration for the General Election and the early voting schedule, are available at www.somervillema.gov/elections.
