Commission tasked with issuing various types of licenses, determining licensing fees and hours of operation for licensed establishments, reviewing complaints of licensed establishments, and more 

The City of Somerville’s Licensing Commission is currently seeking a Somerville resident to fill a vacancy on the three-member board. Commissioners serve three-year terms and earn a stipend of $3,600 per year.

The Somerville Licensing Commission is charged with issuing various types of licenses within the City, including alcohol, common victualer (restaurant), innholder, and entertainment licenses, and adopting and enforcing rules and regulations pertaining to those licenses as determined by the Commission’s policies, city ordinances, and state law. The Commission also determines the annual fees for licenses and the hours of operation for licensed establishments. Additionally, the Commission acts on complaints received from public safety officials, elected officials, and the general public relative to alleged violations of its rules and regulations, city ordinances, or state laws by licensed establishments in the city. As required by state law, applicants must be a registered Democrat or Republican in Somerville.

Applications must be received no later than Monday, July 16, at 4:30 p.m. Applications will be reviewed by the Mayor’s Appointments Advisory Committee (AAC) and you will be notified if you are selected as a finalist.
