The Somerville-Cambridge Elder Services (SCES) Nutrition program is distributing free farmers’ market coupons for eligible older adults the week of July 16. Available through the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the $25 coupons can be used to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables at area farmers’ markets.
Coupons will be distributed at SCES from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. the week of July 16, while supplies last. Coupons are available on a first-come, first served basis. There is a limit of one coupon per eligible person.
The coupons will be also distributed at congregate meal sites and senior buildings during the week. Guidelines to receive a coupon:
- Applicants must be 60 years or older, or disabled and living in elderly housing with a Congregate meal program.
- Proper I.D. required.
- Low income (at or below 185% poverty level, food stamps)
- One per person (names are tracked)
- Applicants must be present to sign for the coupon, or submit a completed proxy form along with person’s identification information.

- If coupons run out, you may request to be put on a waiting list if more become available.
