Sarah Loerzel was honored at an Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA) International conference held in San Diego, CA, last week. Loerzel is a resident of Somerville, MA.
AFCEA International is a non-profit association serving the military, government, industry and academia as an ethical forum for advancing professional knowledge and relationships in the fields of communications, information technology, intelligence and global security.
Loerzel received the prestigious New England-Upstate New York Region’s Distinguished Young AFCEAN Award for her outstanding contributions to AFCEA’s Lexington-Concord Chapter.
Loerzel was commended for her role as Young AFCEAN Vice President of Membership, where she spearheaded Chapter efforts in recruiting young engineers in Hanscom Air Force Base. She has also personally inspired attendance at Chapter events, including the “Run for STEM 5K,” membership luncheons and annual Gala.
Loerzel was also cited for her personal involvement in community projects, from judging at high school science fairs, assisting in Hanscom’s ScienceShare program, helping scholarship participants and serving as proctor/grader at MathCounts Competition.
