Three new principals have been hired for Somerville elementary schools.

Barbara O'Brien will take over at the Argenziano School, Kathleen Seward at the Brown and Jason DeFalco at the Healey.

"I am proud to bring each of these three educators to the senior instructional leadership roles in the Argenziano, Brown and Healey Schools. Each of these school communities, along with the West Somerville Neighborhood School which will also welcome new Principal Thelma Davis in July, will benefit from the excitement of new leadership. These individuals bring a wealth of experience and new ideas to the role of Principal," said school Superintendent Tony Pierantozzi.

O'Brien is currently the assistant principal at the East Somerville Community School. Seward will leave her position as principal of the Innovation Academy Charter School in Tyngsboro to replace Thelma E. Davis at the Brown who is being transferred to the West Somerville Neighborhood School after the retirement of principal Pauline Lampropoulos.

DeFalco will leave the role of principal of the Wells Elementary School in Southbridge to take the reins of the 550 pupil K-8 Arthur D. Healey School following the resignation of current Principal Mr. Mike Sabin.

Somerville's newest principals will start on July 1. They will begin setting up meetings with staff, volunteers, community partners, students and families to learn more about the organizational culture and resources at their school, according to city officials.

Each principal will be prepared to open school for staff on Tuesday, Sept. 7, and for students and families on Sept. 8.
