Ignite Festival in Union Square, August 19
To celebrate Union Square’s sizzling food landscape they bring you: Ignite, an evening of international eats, fire throwers, roving entertainment, and a raucous celebration of global culture. There will be 15 food vendors this year, including Siam Ginger, Himalayan Kitchen, Pikliz, Casa B, Cantina La Mexicana, El Mineirao, Machu Picchu, Momo ‘n Curry, Bao Nation, Dosa ‘n Curry and Gracie’s Ice Cream, and the Arts Council’s Nibble Culinary Entrepreneurs. There will also be food demos, foodie activities and the “Nose Olympics!”
Beyond the global grazing opportunities, an all-female Chinese lion dance troupe will heat things up and the Boston Circus Guild will dance with fire. There will be dance performances—from Argentinian tango to Indian Bhangra and the night will close out with a glow-stick Bhangra dance party. There will also be craft vendors and numerous other performers, including a mime, the Fine Art Superheroes and musicians. But wait, there’s more! Don’t miss the Muscrat Bus photo booth, children’s activities and a canned food drive for the Somerville Homeless Coalition! It’s easy to help out — just bring a can or two of food to the festival.
Please look for the Ignite 2017 event page on Facebook. You’ll find lots of tasty, cutting-edge information.
