Walter Pero,  69, Of Somerville and Harwichport, suddenly on April 6, 2017.

Beloved husband of 47 yrs. to Florence E. (Sgroi).

Loving son of Teresa M. Pero of Somerville and the late Walter F. Pero. Devoted father of Sarah M. Petitto and her Husband Jim of North Reading, Emily K. Perrone and her husband Michael of Somerville.

Dear brother of Donna J. Patten and her husband Russ of Quincy. Cherished grandfather “A” to Michael and Anthony Petitto.

Also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, extended relatives and friends and most especially his beloved dog Harry.

Funeral from the George L. Doherty Funeral Home 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) Somerville, Monday morning at 10:00 am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church at 11:15 am.

Relatives and Friends Invited.

Calling hours Sunday 2-6 pm.

Interment at MA National Cemetery, Bourne Monday at 2:15 pm.

Late veteran US Army, Vietnam Era, late member American Legion Post 19, Somerville, Sons of Italy, Medford, retired Alderman and Veteran’s Agent, City of Somerville, Former Deputy Commissioner of Veteran’s Services, Comm of MA. Mr. Pero was also a proud marathoner completing the Boston Marathon 5 times.
