Somerville resident sought for open Condominium Review Board seat.
The City of Somerville’s Condominium Review Board, which is charged with enforcing the condominium conversion ordinance to protect tenants in rental properties being converted to or sold as condominiums, has an open position. The City invites interested Somerville residents to apply.
The Somerville Condominium Review Board enforces the provisions of the Somerville Condominium Conversion Ordinance (Ordinance 1985-9), which pertains to the protection of tenants in rental property that is being converted to condominiums or otherwise being removed from the rental market. The Board oversees applications and conducts hearings for the conversion of rental units to condominiums and for the sale of condominium units that have most recently been rental units.
The Board’s five members are appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the Board of Aldermen for three-year terms. Board members must include two homeowners, two tenants, and at least one resident who is either a senior, a person with a disability, or of low or moderate income. The Board generally meets the fourth Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. Members receive an annual stipend.
The current vacancy on the Board may be filled by a homeowner, a tenant, or by a senior, a person with a disability, or a person of low or moderate income. Board members must live in Somerville.
Interested residents must submit a written statement of interest and resume to abob@somervillema.gov, or in person at 50 Evergreen Avenue.
Submissions are due by Friday, March 10, at 12:30 p.m. For more information about the Condominium Review Board, contact Alex Bob atabob@somervillema.gov or 617-625-6600 extension 2575.
