The Ryan Harrington Foundation cordially invites you to join them for a special Mass of Hope & Recovery celebrated by dear family friend and fellow community member, Father Paul Coughlin.
“We would love for everyone to attend this Mass regardless what your religious affiliation or higher power may be” said Cathy Harrington, the mother of Ryan Harrington and an officer of the Foundation. “This is about reflection, connection and community.”
The Mass will be held on Sunday, November 27th at 11:30am at St. Raphael’s Church (514 High Street, Medford, MA 02155).
Immediately following the Mass the Foundation is hosting a catered brunch (by local favorites such as The Neighborhood Restaurant and Lyndell’s Bakery) in the St. Raphael’s Church Hall. All are encouraged to attend.
Dave Harrington, Ryan’s father confides “The Holiday Season is an especially difficult time for those who have lost a loved one to addiction, those struggling with addiction, as well as their families. Our wish is to have the community come together, to let people know that they are not alone”.
The Harrington’s are hoping to double the attendance of last years Mass.
Where: St Raphael’s Church – 516 High Street, Medford, MA 02155
When: Sunday, November 27, 2016 at 11:30am
I’m working a market that day or else I would be there. Hopefully, I can attend in the future.
This is a wonderful event and it supports an important cause. Please try to find the time to attend.
Too bad that there is a shortage of funds. While Bacon Hill is there for he photo opportunities, it was Beacon Hill group with the Weld/Baker administration that shut down ten state hospitals that housed drug and alcohol treatment programs.
It was done rapidly and very few on Beacon Hill tried to stop it. Why? The Weld/Baker administration profiled the hundreds of million$ of dollars that would be made as the state sold off all the state hospitals land that would become available by the hospital closures.
There are a great number of legislators that are involved in real estate and as lawyers representing developers. Thus you know where their loyalties lie. The majority of the land state hospitals sat on could not be sold as the original agreements stated that once the hospitals closed the land reverted to the towns the land was located in.
Meanwhile all the patients were shipped out to private facilities but a major amount of the drug/alcohol patients were/are homeless and on the street. Privatization of the programs was/is a failure. Programs are short term and these human beings need long term treatment to be successful in beating these addictions.
Thank you for helping us spread the word. Please feel free to invite friends and family. Also…we Just want to make sure if it isn’t clear in the piece that this is 100% free and open to the public! 🙂 Hope to see you Sunday!
