Event marks notable milestone in the steady evolution of Somerville’s newest mixed-use community
Callahan Construction Managers, a Bridgewater based full-service construction management firm, along with developer Federal Realty Investment Trust, architect Stantec and Iron Workers Local 7 commemorated a significant milestone in the ongoing progress of Assembly Row with the topping off of Block 6. It was an exciting day where executives and other project partners gathered to sign the final steel beam before it was lifted and connected to the top floor of the new mixed-use property.
“We are honored to play a role in the advancement of one of the region’s most exciting new neighborhoods in collaboration with such valued partners,” said Patrick Callahan, President of Callahan Construction Managers. “Following the topping off of Block 6, we look forward to guiding continued successful construction progress at this dynamic property.”
Assembly Row, developed by Federal Realty Investment Trust, is a vibrant mixed-use community in Somerville’s Assembly Square neighborhood. Upon completion, the transit-oriented development will include more than 600,000 sq. ft. of retail, 1,800 residential units and 2.8 million sq. ft. of office space.
The Block 6 component of Assembly Row includes two buildings comprised of a 20-story 273-unit girder slab tower, a six-story 174-unit wood frame structure, which includes 40,000 sq. ft. of ground floor retail space and a seven-story 650-car parking garage. The property is anticipated to be complete in early 2018.
