A ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of the Otis Playground renovation and its much anticipated renaming as Cremin Playground, in honor of Deanna Cremin, a wonderful Somerville teen who was a positive inspiration for all will take place this Saturday, October 22.
The celebration will be held at the corner of Otis and Dane Streets, at 10:30 a.m.
The new playground design was inspired by the community, and developed by an imaginative team of landscape architects and engineers at CBA Landscape Architects.
The park features include new play structures, several musical instruments, fun-loving murals, a water spray area, a large dish swing, and café tables. Improved safety features include new lighting, security cameras, and new gates.
The playground also includes expanded green spaces, permeable surfacing throughout to help remediate storm water runoff, new sidewalks, and street trees.
This City of Somerville project was completed in partnership and with the support of MassDot.
“We lost someone special when we lost Deanna Cremin,” said Mayor Curtatone. “This park will honor her caring, fun-loving spirit, and with the renovation of the playground, our children and families will be now able to enjoy a space dedicated to Deanna’s memory and legacy.”
Date: Saturday, October 22, 10:30 a.m. Location: Cremin Playground (Corner of Otis St. and Dana St.)
