The foundry has been serving brasserie-style gastropub food since 2010 in the heart of Davis Square. From the appetizers, small sharing plates, flatbreads and entrees, there is a large enough selection to satisfy everyone in the group. 

When first entering the restaurant, it’s impossible to miss the grand marble topped bar that expands approximately 25 feet along the first half of the restaurant’s wall. If you’re thinking about catching a glimpse of the Red Sox in the playoffs, this is a great venue to grab a bite and a beer. The beer list is extensive with great rotating choices of different styles of beer. If you’re looking for a different type of libation, they offer a fantastic wine list and old style cocktails as well.

One of my favorite guilty pleasures at the foundry is the smoked grilled cheese and tomato basil soup. The smoky, salty, sweet honey drizzle, crunchy bread and gooey Gouda and cheddar cheeses make this exactly what you’re looking for in a grilled cheese. If that’s not enough, you can gild the lily by dipping the grilled cheese into the creamy tomato basil soup that’s so rich in flavor that after it’s gone, you keep dipping your spoon back into the cup wishing there was more hiding at the bottom.

If you’re looking for a regular entree, the Chicken Milanese is a great choice. It’s coated in Parmesan cheese and bread crumbs and pan fried and finished in a lemon beurre blanc with pancetta, heirloom cherry tomatoes and asparagus. The chicken cutlet was moist and juicy and crispy on the outside. The lemon beurre blanc was light and refreshing and rounded out the dish perfectly.

The wait staff was friendly and well versed of both the drink menu and food menu and provided great service.
