On Monday, October 3, at approximately 8:40 p.m., Somerville police units were dispatched to a Pinckney St. location on reports of a shooting incident.

According to reports, the victim received seven gunshot wounds, and was taken to Mass General Hospital for treatment.

Officers briefly questioned the victim’s girlfriend at the hospital. She reportedly stated that she was in her car on Pinckney St., preparing to drive her and the victim to dinner, when a man, who she could only describe as being “in dark clothes,” approached the car and starting shooting a gun at the victim as he tried to enter the passenger door. When the man stopped shooting, she exited her car and found her boyfriend lying on the ground suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

A juvenile suspect was located on Broadway a short time later and was taken into custody, tentatively charged with armed assault with intent to murder, pending the outcome of the victim’s treatment.

Police indicated that the charges could be upgraded to murder should the victim succumb to the gunshot wounds.
