Wall to Wall: Art Builds Community (W2W), is a gallery exhibition of street art and street-inspired studio art that represents the ways art helps to build community. W2W is held in conjunction with the Clarendon Hill Presbyterian Church annual social annual social justice program, “Learn to Talk”, and Somerville’s legendary HONK! Festival of Street Bands. W2W will consist of an exhibition, artist talks and other events and activities that engage participants in positive dialogue for the purpose of building a more equitable community.

W2W includes an artist’s panel and several presentations, keynoted with a talk by world-renowned muralist and street art historian Caleb Neelon on the history and community-building power of street art.

Boston community artist Cedric Douglas will participate as part of his UpTruck/UpWall project, which is also a sponsor of W2W

ABOUT THE CURATOR:
Karl Stephan is best known for documenting the evolution of Rico Modica Way (also known as the Cambridge Graffiti Wall) in thousands of photographs since 2010. Karl is a practicing studio artist who teaches privately in Cambridge, at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and in various community settings. His work has been widely shown.

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION:
In May, 2016, the Nave Gallery marked its twelfth anniversary at The Clarendon Hill Presbyterian Church. CHPC’s support through the years has allowed the Nave to show and support the work of hundreds of artists, while reinforcing a mutual commitment to strengthening our community through art activism. Wall to Wall: Art Builds Community, is a celebration of this partnership and an affirmation that art helps build a more positive, equitable community for all.
